Please join us at the public hearings for the Administrative Rule Review of HB2177 – Oregon’s “Motor Voter” Law. This law is due to be implemented January 1, 2016, and you can have input into how it is implemented.

PUBLIC HEARINGS SCHEDULED TO ACCEPT TESTIMONY ON PROPOSED ADMINISTRATIVE RULE 165-005-0170, WHICH SPECIFIES THE PROCESS OF REGISTERING QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS TO VOTE USING DMV DATA
SALEM – Public hearings have been scheduled by the Secretary of State to accept written and oral testimony regarding the adoption of Administrative Rule 165-005-0170.
Administrative Rule 165-005-0170 would implement Oregon Laws 2015, chapter 8, which requires the Secretary to establish a rule by which DMV transfers specific information about qualified individuals for voter registration purposes and other updates to the voter registration process. The proposed rule designates the Oregon Motor Voter (OMV) Manual as the procedures to be used for voter registration and voter updates of qualified individuals from certain DMV interactions. The OMV Manual addresses the following:
- Initiating the Motor Voter Process
- Data Transfers from DMV to the Elections Division
- Registration through Oregon Motor Voter Process
- Registration Updates through Oregon Motor Voter Process
- Public and Protected Records
- Instructions for Completing the OMV Card
Parties interested in submitting written or oral testimony on the proposed adoption of Administrative Rule 165-005-0170 may do so at any of the public hearings, as scheduled below.
